Internal Power Supply Test Procedure Technical Workshop -
Energy Efficiency Test Procedure Final Development and Updates on Measured Data

Sponsored by the California Energy Commission Public Interest Energy Research (PIER)Program and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Energy Star Program.
Hosted by ON Semiconductor.

The California Energy Commission's PIER Program has funded Ecos Consulting and EPRI Solutions to develop a generalized test procedure for measuring the energy efficiency of internal power supplies. The first draft of the procedure was released in February of 2004. The most recent revision (draft 5) represents almost two years of refinement during which Ecos Consulting and EPRI Solutions have used the test procedure to measure the efficiency of dozens of internal power supplies, including those found in televisions, set top boxes, computers, and audio amplifiers.

On Thursday, January 19, 2006 the California Energy Commission's PIER program and the U.S. EPA Energy Star Program invite you to attend a free one-day technical workshop hosted by ON Semiconductor in Phoenix, AZ to give comment on the most current revision of the test procedure and to review internal power supply efficiency data that have been collected during the two years of the test procedure's development. This meeting will be the last opportunity for materially affected stakeholders to give comments or questions in person about the test procedure before it is finalized and unveiled to the power electronics community at the Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC) in Dallas, Texas in March of 2006.

To help facilitate the discussion, you are strongly encouraged to download the Internal Power Supply Test Procedure and submit written comments on the document prior to the workshop (see the official form below for submitting written comments). Pre-workshop comments should be sent to Peter Ostendorp ( postendorp@ecosconsulting.com). Those comments received by Wednesday, January 4, 2006 will be distributed anonymously as part of printed workshop materials and will, along with other oral comments received on the day of the workshop, help shape technical discussion of the test procedure at the workshop itself.

If you are unable to attend the workshop, you can still participate in the final development process of this test procedure. Please download the Internal Power Supply Test Procedure Rev. 5 and submit your comments (using the official comment form) to Peter Ostendorp, Research Analyst, Ecos Consulting postendorp@ecosconsulting.com) by February 15, 2006. Comments will be summarized and posted on www.EfficientPowerSupplies.org by March 15, 2006, and the final revision of the test procedure will be presented to the power electronics community at APEC 2006.
